ATANZ STRATEGIC PLAN 2005 Values: We believe: * All people with disabilities have the right to assistive technology support in order to realise their full potential. * All people with disabilities have the right to participate in their community. * People accessing assistive technology services have the right to the best possible service. * Geographical equity of service throughout New Zealand must be established and maintained. Mission: “Promoting excellence in assistive technology service provision in New Zealand.” Vision: “Every person in New Zealand who needs assistive technology has access to excellent services and support.” Goals: 1. Professional Development: To elevate the skills of assistive technology practitioners through the provision of quality professional development opportunities. 2. Profile: To raise community awareness of assistive technology and become the nationally recognised authority on assistive technology and related issues. 3. Policy: To be the voice of assistive technology practitioners to advocate for policy that supports equity of assistive technology access. 4. Practice: To ensure quality assistive technology service provision through the establishment and monitoring of best practice assistive technology standards. Three-Year Strategy Professional Development 1. We will undertake an ATANZ Conference every second year (beginning 2005). 2. We will undertake at least one significant event in each ‘off’ year. 3. We will develop full Board polices around both event types. 4. We will ensure a balance of process, practice, product with activities 5. We will promote the listserv as a professional development tool. Profile: 1. We will develop PR and media presence. 2. We will seek to link and raise profile with funders, therapists and other organisations. 3. We will develop the website as a profile tool 4. We will undertake a membership drive 5. We will seek to forge alliances with international bodies. Policy: 1. We will determine our desired policy requirements. 2. We will maintain an ongoing dialogue with all relevant government departments. 3. We will maintain an ongoing dialogue with all relevant professional bodies. Practice: 1. We will develop a broad voluntary code of practice and ethics. 2. We will source funding for further research and development to develop standards. 3. We will design an implementation plan for standards including monitoring, discipline etc.
