ATS Policy:
ATANZ recognizes the importance of supporting all AT
suppliers and providing equal opportunities for suppliers to market
their products at Conferences and other Continuing Education events.
The Trust expects that all ATANZ members act in a
professional manner and do not bring into disrepute other members.
In agreeing to membership, ATANZ members have agreed to these terms.
Sponsorship:
ATANZ also recognises the contributions that AT
suppliers have given to the development of the Trust through
sponsorship at conferences, contributing at professional development
events and through promoting the aims of the Trust to consumers.
It is ATANZ policy that any potential conflicts of
interest will be made known to the membership via the ATANZ website.
ATANZ Listserv Policy
The ATANZ listserv provides a forum where people with
an interest in assistive technology can exchange information,
opinions, inquiries and information related to assistive technology.
The ATANZ list is moderated, that is an administrator reads through
the messages before they are sent to the membership. This may mean
that there is a slight delay in members receiving messages, although
the administrator will notify the membership if there will be a
significant delay.
The moderator will ensure that the topics discussed
follow rules of etiquette including:.
-
Only
members of a list are allowed to post to the list.
-
The
advertising of products and services, including publications, is
discouraged. (Here advertising means providing information about
a product or service for sale by a person who will benefit from
this sale.)
-
Posting
information about commercial or noncommercial materials that you
have used and about which you want to share your opinion is
appropriate and encouraged.
-
Posting
information about the existence of a product or publication,
commercial or otherwise, that is responsive to a query on the
list and that will be of general interest to the list is
appropriate. However, if you have not used the item, post your
message with the caveat that you have not tried the particular
product or service.
-
If
somebody requests help on the list and you have a product or
service for sale that you think would be useful, please respond
to that person in a private email message. Please do not send
your response to the entire list.
-
We have
observed that the most productive way for consultants to use
Listservs is to take part in the discussions of a list. Adding
to the discussion of a particular topic in a constructive,
thoughtful manner can be the very best "advertising" of your
services as a consultant. If you are a consultant or would like
to suggest that you can consult on certain issues, you can
provide information in your signature line that directs members
to your own Web site or provides contact information. If you
have consulting expertise that you believe would be of interest
to a list member, email that person privately.
-
In the
interest of sharing information and providing valuable
information to list members, job listings and conference
announcements are welcomed.
NOTE: For the purposes of ATANZ, assistive technology is defined as
“any item, piece of equipment or product system whether acquired
commercially off the shelf, modified or customised that is used to
increase or improve functional capabilities of people with
disabilities” (Cook and Hussey)
These criteria are a guide only. The Trustees reserve the right to
evaluate appropriate membership on a case by case basis.
